Tournament Rules

  • Before the start of the tournament it will be decided whether the prelim is played in one big group or more than one group. The pairing is according to Swiss system.

  • Based on the Best of 3 game format, which is being used for all rounds, every player has to select three heroes. The heroes have to be announced at the registration on the tournament day and can't be changed afterwards.

  • Only standard cards according to the definition of Blizzard are allowed. Once the heroes have been determined and the first round starts it will not be tolerated to make any changes to the decks. Whoever breaches this rule will be automatically disqualified from the tournament. Furthermore, deck tracker softwares are not allowed.

  • To determine the winner of one round the Conquest mode is being used: The player who wins one game is not allowed to use the same hero again and has to select one of the remaining heroes. For the player who lost a game, the hero can be used again in the next match. The round ends when one of the players has won with all heroes.

  • At the beginning of each round players have to ban one of the three heroes of the opponent. By this way, two heroes remain for each player to compete against each other. In case a player ignores that his hero was banned by the other player and uses it during one of the matches, the relevant match will be decided with a default win for the opponent. See more information regarding the process of banning in the following abstract.

  • For documenting the rounds the first noted player of a match in the brackets receives a result reporting form. The form should be used as follows:

    • At the beginning both players write down their three heroes.

    • Without showing to the opponent each player bans one of the three opposing heroes. A good method is that one player turns around so that the other player can choose. After having made the ban he asks the opponent to make his ban while turning the form on its back so that the own choice is invisible.

    • Every player has two remaining heroes that can be used in the round. The choice of which hero to use in which round is up to the player with the limitation of above written Conquest rule.

    • The first noted player is responsible for writing down the results of each match according to the format of the result reporting form.

    • After one of the players has won with both heroes the round is decided. The result reporting form shall be first confirmed with the opponent by signing with the initals of the player and afterwards the final form has to be delivered to the organising team.

  • There is no obligation to take a screenshot of the match results. Nevertheless, it is advisable to do so in case of any disputes.

  • In case of disconnects the match has to be repeated if both players agree that the match was still open and not about to be won by one of the players. As disputes might arrive, please directly contact the organising team. Should there be suspicion that a player intentionally disconnects from a game for strategical reasons, there will be a first warning, followed by a disqualification from the tournament in case a similar situation arrives.

  • After the announcement of a round start the players have to begin their first match within 15 minutes. If one player has to wait longer than that for the opponent, the organising team has to be contacted and it will be decided whether the first match is a default loss for the missing player.

  • Leaving the tournament or having planned to participate for only a limited time have to be announced to the organising team. By this way, it can be prevented that players are missing and empty pairings take place.
